December Fun

We broke in our December festivities by decorating a gingerbread house with cousins on the day after Thanksgiving.  Aunt Angela was so sweet to plan this activity!

The first weekend in December was our weekend of a DIVIDED HOUSE!  Saturday, December 7, we headed to Waco, TX to watch mom's Baylor Bears BEAT dad's Texas Longhorns in the final game at the beloved Floyd Casey Stadium.  It was a freezing 24 degrees!!  We made a trip to Academy and Sun & Ski Sports the night before to prepare.  Michael, Mommy and Daddy were wrapped in thermal this and thermal that from head to toe!  The Kidd family, sweet friends who now live in Waco, kindly kept our sweet Ella Grace while we went to the game...glad she stayed warm and had a blast!  We had great seats on the second row in the end zone to see all of the action up close.  We were actually pretty snug and cozy until half time when folks started getting up making room for the wind to sneak into the nooks and crannies.  We lasted through the end of half time and watched the remainder of the game with the Kidds.   Adam was sporting (underneath his many layers) his UT jersey from his football playing days with the Longhorns.

Next up was a trip to Grandma's to celebrate her birthday.

This was our first year to use the Little People Advent Calendar.  Michael enjoyed this activity each day as we added a new person (or animal) to the scene of Christ's birth and talked about the Christmas story each day. He called it his Christmas Calendar.

Ella and I had a fun girl lunch date at The Cheesecake Factory to celebrate Mandi's birthday with her and baby Lydia.  Ella cracked herself up playing peek-a-boo with my napkin - priceless!

We had a fun adventure on the Christmas Train!  Michael and Ella both get so excited when looking at Christmas lights and what's more fun than looking at lights while riding on a train?! Adam and I love that the lights on the train ride tell the story of Jesus.  While awaiting our turn to board the train Michael (and Adam) enjoyed the Christmas village and train display...one day this may be in our future...one day.

Michael, Ella and I had a fun Christmas play date with our Mom and Me playgroup at the Bedars.  The kids decorated Christmas trees then ate them! Michael and Ella both loved looking at their Christmas village, but Michael mostly just liked being with Naomi...one of his favorite friends.  He asks about her almost daily.
