Great Wolf Lodge

We had a FABULOUS week long vacation at Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine.  While there we took a few day trips: Perot Nature & Science Museum in downtown Dallas, LEGOLAND at Grapevine Mills Mall and South Fork Ranch.  Each of these adventures will have their own blog post.  This was our first trip to Great Wolf Lodge and will not be our last for sure, we're fans now!

Each night in the Lobby at the Clock Tower they had a show and a bedtime story with one of the Great Wolf Lodge Characters...and you are welcome to come in your pj's!  They also taught the kiddos how to "howl."  Michael can now howl with the best of them! We didn't meet all of the characters but we did meet Sammy the Squirrel, Violet the Wolf, and Oliver Raccoon.  Even though he didn't meet him, Wiley the Wolf is Michael's favorite.

For those that don't know, Great Wolf Lodge is a family resort with an indoor water park.  Michael had an absolute blast!  Fort Mackenzie (pictured below) was his favorite.  He climbed to the top countless (probably around 30x each visit) to go down the water slide.  I loved that there were probably 15-20 life guards on duty at all times.

The Lazy River...not so lazy when you are leisurely floating by and someone drops a bucket of water on your head and you lose your glasses. :/  Thankfully they were quickly recovered.

 The wave pool.

This is the toddler area...so fun! Michael went down these sides just as much as the bigger ones.  Ella and I would hang out here a lot.

Another reason I like Great Wolf Lodge...Adam and I each had a bracelet like this one.  This bracelet is was our room key and our credit card.  We didn't have to carry anything with us!  We could buy food, stuff in the gift shop, ice cream, etc...and they just scanned our bracelet and the items were charged to our room.  Michael also wore a bracelet but it was a plain one to get into the water park.  Our room was conveniently located on the same floor as the water park, the arcade, ice cream shop and kid's club play room.  Biggest bonus for me was Starbucks every morning...I was spoiled! We had a GREAT STAY!

The Thursday of our stay happened to be the first day of Grape Fest on Main Street in Grapevine.  We strolled Main St., shopped in some awesome boutiques, looked at all the booths, played a few games, checked out the train, ate lunch and found a neat carwash booth set up for kids ~ of course Michael was all about that!
