Hilton Head Island, SC
Oh what a fabulous week we had on Hilton Head Island in South Carolina!!
Here are pictures from the resort property where we stayed.
Outside of our room...just a few steps away from the pool and restaurant.
This was Michael's first experience with bunk beds. They were a hit!
First Ever Beach Day for Ella Grace!
Michael was the first to run out to the water.
Ella had absolutely no fear of the water...rather caused A LOT of fear in Mommy, Daddy and especially Michael. Michael was very concerned that his sissy would "sink." We needed a leash to keep up with her. She wanted to go out in the water by herself so bad.
Michael was very serious about sand castle building. He brought back bucket after bucket of water.
One of our favorite Hilton Head evenings was dinner out at "One Hot Mama's American Grille.: It was super delicious and had a great atmosphere. Turns out the owner/chef was on season seven of The Next Foot Network Star.
Just had to take this picture of our sweet Ella Grace while we were waiting on a table...oh how beautiful she is!
Mommy's Girl
Daddy's Boy
We had lunch at the "Crazy Crab" and they happened to have the perfect photo prop for Ella's outfit!
A Pirate Adventure
We had prepared Michael for our pirate adventure by telling him a little bit about what we understood was going to happen. A certain "Stinky Pete" has stolen the pirate treasure...Michael and his fellow pirates were going out on the pirate ship to find Stinky Pete and the missing treasure. So here we are on our way to the pirate ship, The Black Dagger. Look closely. You will see that Michael is hiding a "Pirate Dagger" behind his back. We are walking to the pirate ship and he is well prepared to sneak up on Stinky Pete! Ha! Ha!
Dressed and Ready.
Learning to Walk and Talk like a Pirate
The "motion of the ocean" put Ella right to sleep!
"Hey, I am going to shoot Stinky Pete all by myself."
Sure enough, they found Stinky Pete on his boat.
Michael was very serious about shooting Stinky Pete with his water cannon. He was so proud of himself.
The captain located the treasure and it was safely retrieved out of the water.
Michael grabbed a handful of treasure.
Returning to land.
New Pets
If you know Michael then you know how badly he wants a pet, especially a dog. So very unfortunate is the fact that Michael is allergic to dogs. We are all so sad. So, low and behold, on our trip Adam bought Michael and Ella Grace hermit crabs for their pets. These hermit crabs traveled all the way back to Texas with us...and are still alive! Michael was excited at first and then he said...
Michael: "So, we'll keep them for 4 days and then take them back?"
Me: "Oh no, honey these are your pets to keep."
Michael: "Well, I really just want a dog."
Bless his dog loving heart.
Kite Flying on the Beach
Nothing like cold watermelon after a morning on the beach.
Family Photo Shoot
Loved how all the little shops, boutiques and restaurants were all nestled together withing walking and bike riding distance.
Another favorite day on Hilton Head was spent in this fun area shopping and then eating lunch at the famous "Salty Dog."
Off we go...packed up and ready to hit the road!
On our last day at the beach we collected LOTS of sand and shells. Upon our return home souvenirs were made. The hermit crabs were fixed up with a fancy new habitat courtesy of Adam. The hermit crabs have since changed shells numerous times. They are very interesting creatures. And just in case you're wondering, that is hermit crab food in the shell! ;)
I made sand and shell jars for each kiddo and one for Adam & I.
